This results in difficulty interpreting hand gestures, eye contact, facial expressions,​ and the rhythm of conversation. While some children are unable to speak, the majority have rich vocabularies and can talk about specific subjects in detail. However they are not able to communicate effectively due to problems understanding the social rhythm of conversation as well as an inability to understand body language or tone.
